Directors Institute: Babies, Tots and Play

Directors Institute: Babies, Tots and Play

This exciting professional development institute will help early care administrators and family day home owners support providers in creating playful and encouraging educational environments while also developing positive interactions and relationships, which are critical to infant and toddler brain growth and enhanced program quality.

Erin Carroll and Kris Meyers will discuss how Virginia’s new unified measurement and improvement system, VQB5, is focusing on supporting programs that serve infants and toddlers. They’ll provide updates on the current practice year and information about what’s ahead with time for Q&A.

In the workshop, Creating Playfulness – It’s the Secret Sauce, learn how program leaders can help infant and toddler providers enhance play-based activities that lead to children learning.

Explore how infant and toddler providers can build strong relationships with children during everyday play and routines in the workshop, Creating Relationships – It’s the Spoonful of Sugar. Strategies will be shared on how program owners and administrators can support providers in creating a positive environment where children feel safe and valued and can enjoy their time exploring and learning.

Participants will receive:

  • Training certificate
  • Resource materials that include children’s books and toys, as well as provider resources, related to the institute topic

Provider Registration Fee: $30; $20 for VQB5 programs.
